Current Favourites #1

This February had 28 days, right? Well, it's just that this particular February was the creepiest of creeps, creeping by like an extremely slow creeper. Go figure. Maybe it's because after I put on some lipstick or some mascara, I did not venture out, but stayed back home to visit my buried-under-an-inch-of-dust Class XII text books. To be completely honest, I would just doodle some anime figures in my notebooks in the name of studying. I'm just a flake. When will I ever learn? Also, if you're an acquaintance of some sort or a family member, kindly do not rat me out to my wonderful mother. I was only kidding about the buried-under-an-inch-of-dust part and all that. I am constantly studying just so I am able to fulfil my childhood dreams. I do these bloggy things whenever I lift my head up from those variety of fonts and facts. Fonts and facts, I like the sound of that.

Now, I thought I'd just do Current Favourites instead of Monthly Favourites. That would save me the pressure of trying out new things every month (I'm student-poor, you guys) and uploading my thoughts here. Also, like I mentioned in the previous paragraph, I'm a flake.
In January-February, I got my hands on a few new products and was able to test them out for my own fancy. Let's get on with it.

My favourites of the moment are a little all-over-the-place, but I find that I reach for them the most right now. The current blush I absolutely adore is from MAC, it was from their 2013 Archie's Girls collection. For eyes, I find myself just drawing on the lower lash-line with the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Pencil and then filling in the water-line with the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl. If I'm not feeling too lazy, I'll smack on some Maybelline Color Tattoo. I also often use Maybelline Baby Lips. When I feel like it, I'll wear some Stila Lip Glaze or some L'Oreal Shine Caresse.

MAC's Pearlmatte Face Powder in 'Veronica's Blush' is my go-to product whenever my skin looks a little flat. It use it as a highlighter rather than a blush. It's a pink base with darker pink hearts (isn't it adorable???) and is very powdery. Maybe that's what they meant by 'Face Powder'. It shows up wonderfully on my skin and I looks as if I'm glowing with happiness. I'm a sucker for the glowing-with-happiness look. I need to delve into the world of highlighters more, I feel. But for now, this will suffice. (I wrote about the entire story here.)

This is my current go-to eye look. The mid and outer part of the lower lashline, I'll smudge with the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 'Brown'. I absolutely love this kajal, it's a gorgeous earthy-brown with slight gold shimmers running through. They retail for about ₹350 each. The only con I can think of is that these need to be sharpened. But I do love it very much, which is very evident from the size of the kajal at the moment. I colour in my lower water-line using the Maybelline New York Color Show Crayon Kohl in 'Shiny Beige'. I believe it is perfect for the waterline and it really awakens the eyes (More elaborate thoughts here). If I don't want to bother with either of these things, I'll just slap on some Maybelline New York Color Tattoo in 'Bad to the Bronze'. This eyeshadow is pure sorcery. (More elaborate thoughts here.)

I'm a lip junkie. I didn't volunteer for that, you know. But I am one now. *sighs* My friend Gigi got me this particular Maybelline Baby Lips from Thailand. It's from their Dr. Rescue line and is called 'Fresh Mint'. I am all about mint (my blog is called Mint Sin, need I go on?) and this little guy puts all the Indian counterparts of Baby Lips to shame. For a change, it's actually moisturising. I'm often on the fence about the hydrating properties of coloured versions of the Baby Lips. But the sheer/uncoloured ones seem to be aware of their duties. The L'Oreal Shine Caresse is another product that's a result of pure genius. I have this in shade '604 Bella' and it's a peachy pink but it stains my lips to become a much darker pink (More elaborate thoughts here). The Stila Lip Glaze in 'Amaretto' is my absolute favourite gloss of the moment. It's awesome. That's it (More awesome thoughts here).

NON-BEAUTY FAVOURITES.

Favourite TV Shows: All through these wintry days, whenever I've had the time, I've watched 'Castle'. I've watched Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) kick people's arses and solve murders like it's a fluffy unicorn. Sure, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) helps her most of the time. But, who cares about him? Don't get me wrong, I quite like his character but I love the Detective. Another show I like is 'Bones'. It is so good that it's jaw-dropping. If I was anywhere near being straight, I'd have the hots for Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz). When I just want to chill, I catch the fourth season of 'Arrested Development'. Is that show awesome or is that show awesome? Although it's hard to pick a favourite character, I cannot get enough of Gob Bluth (Will Arnett) and Lindsay Bluth (Portia de Rossi).

Music of the moment: Nobody was happier than me when I heard Lily Allen would be making music once again. When I heard 'Hard Out Here', I was instantly empowered - such an anthem, that song. Get this line: "Don't need to shake my ass for you 'cause I've got a brain". This song is filled with similar badass lyrics. Check out the lyrics here and the video here. I also adore 'Air Balloon'. The song is very cute and fun and is actually amazing to work to. Check out the lyrics here and the video here

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make-up Remover is very handy and is what I usually reach for when I need to remove my make-up. It's an oil-based make-up remover and while it is effective, it is a nuisance if it gets inside your eyes (by accident, of course). It's extremely painful when it happens so I need to be ten times more cautious. I'm a coffee person, but my girlfriend introduced me to green tea and I've been a tea drinker of late. I like the local green tea (Hey, I'm an Assamese girl; if I don't drink tea, who will?) and I quite like the Himalaya Herbal Teas too. I drink that in my big ol' 'overflowing with milk' mug, which is green and sturdy. Since the weather is still very dry and wintry, I slap on some Johnson's Baby Cream (I don't own a legit moisturiser, I'm lame like that) on my face and some Vaseline Original Pure Skin Jelly on my lips before bed. The ring I've been wearing the most these days is a silver one I got from Shillong for quite a bargain (only ₹40) and my earrings of the moment are a pair of beautiful silver and peach crystal ones from Forever New (another bargain, got them on sale for ₹200).

That's all for my Current Favourites, you guys. Also, a quick note; all the posts from March 1st to April 16th will be pre-written posts that have been scheduled to upload themselves automatically. I'll have my exams those days, which is why I cannot write and publish posts spontaneously, like I usually do. Here's hoping I get free from these treacherous exams soon.

P.S. Photos of the TV Shows and Lily Allen were found on Google Images. They do not belong to me in any way.
